Our client requested an alternative design option for this same site, after being approached to partner with a community housing provider. The project focus now on cost efficient construction and a community housing outcome.
The site is in near proximity to many local amenities, such as local shops, parks, the hospital, schools and sports facilities, making it a desirable location to reside.
The project is for 25 residential homes, one and two bedrooms in size.
The architectural expression is simple but strong in form.
Materials are robust, low maintenance, durable. The buildings’ staircase and ground floor office providing activation and amenity to the main street entrance. Central circulation routes from the street frontage and rear car parking offering a clear ‘front door’ for residents.
A central skylight and a garden recess beside the stair allowing further light into the heart of the building. Full height glazing to the end of short corridors enhancing the approach to each front door. Inset balconies with solid cladding conceal personal belongings, maintaining the building’s aesthetics.
